  • Information Management tools connect people with information
  • While “Knowledge” can be complicated and ambiguous, “Information” is explicit, simple, and unambiguous
  • Project information can be managed and distributed as
    • Hard-copy documents (letters, memos, reports)
    • Electronic communications (e-mail, fax, telephone, websites)
    • Electronic project management tools (web interfaces, project management software, meeting software, collaborative software)
  • The Project Management Information System (PMIS) can include a component for sharing Documents and Information
  • An information management tool is most effective when it is interactive, for example
    • Ability for users to contact the information’s author in order to obtain more information
    • Ability for users to ask for help
