Part 78: Prompt Lists
(Project Risk Management: Identify Risks)

  • A Prompt List is a list of broad risk categories
  • We want to identify project risks, but we don’t know where to start
  • We use the prompt list to help us brainstorm, and ensure that we don’t overlook any categories
  • If we have a Risk Breakdown Structure, we can use the lowest level as a prompt list
  • Some common prompt lists include
    • PESTLE = Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal, Environmental
    • TEOP = Technical, Environmental, Commercial, Operational Political
    • VUCA = Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity
